Painting selected for Snow White and the Huntsman Art Contest

Universal Pictures announced a call for artists to submit artwork inspired by the upcoming film Snow White and the Huntsman. I have been selected as one of the 15 winners and her painting will be showcased in a pop-up gallery located on the internationally renowned Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. My Artwork will be on display alongside works from a prominent L.A. artist and costumes from the film's three-time Academy Award®-winning costume designer, Colleen Atwood, from May 19 through June 3. The painting is in oil and is 20" x 24".The epic action-adventure starring Kristen Stewart, Oscar® winner Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth arrives in theaters on June 1. The painting was done as if it was an illustration based on the movie. The movie is dark so the painting has a dark feel to it. The raven in the painting look like they are up to no good, whispering of things to come. My paintings are on display at the Back Lane Gallery on Old Market Lane in Killarney and the Gallery Frieda in Youghall.

Universal pictures announced an art competition on the 4th of May.  I did not hear about it until the 8th and the dead line was the 11th. I got to work and this is my entry. I wanted to make the painting look like a Illustration  from a children's book, only a bit darker than the normal fairy tail. I love when I can use red in a painting and dramatic Sky's are one of my favorite things to paint. I am sure they will be hundreds of entries so I don't hold out much hope of winning. But, I had fun painting it.
