Opening Night at the Quiet man Pub and H gallery

What a wonderful experience. The opening reception at the Quiet Man Pub was wonderful. A bit more of a reunion rather than a reception, but I still managed to sell 3 paintings and 2 of them were to people I did not know. Around 70 people attended the evening. It was interesting to have an exhibition in a Pub, but I do believe allot more people came out on that Monday night after the Super Bowl because it was not in a gallery. I think alternative locations for exhibitions is a good idea. Some people are intimidated by galleries, but would have no problem with going in for a drink and then having a look at the art. We converted the Pub into a gallery on Monday afternoon using easels that my Husband Pat made for me. The bar put out a lovely spread of food and pints were flowing. A harpist played Irish music in the background. We finished up around 10pm. The next morning we were up early to take the exhibition down and the walk it all down the street to the H gallery. The exhibition will continue at the H Gallery Steel imagination on 1 south Division Street in Peekskill until the 14th of February.  We had another reception on Tuesday night at the gallery, I am tired but it was worth it. I have decided to leave some of my work in The Quiet Man Pub on display and for sale. I have not lived in Peekskill for 16 years but the people I knew all those years ago made me feel that no time had passed. It was like we continued where we left off. It is a wonderful feeling to know you are blessed with so many good friends, Absence does make the heart grow fonder,

The Quiet Man Pub, Peekskill, NY

I am in New York visiting my family. It is not really a holiday I am painting every day getting ready for an exhibition. I have an opportunity to exhibit in the H-gallery in Peeksill with an opening reception on the 6th of February at the Quiet Man Pub http://thequietmanpublichouse.com/.  The opening reception will be held at the Quiet Man from 6pm onwards.  The exhibition will run from Tuesday the 7th until the 12 February at The H Gallery on 1 South Division St. Peekskill, NY Gallery.  While I am here I will be painting the Hudson Valley area. There are so many similarities to Ireland so it will be interesting to see them side by side.  I am still painting away so there will be more to come.
